If you guys are into games, like me, then do give this game a try. Its really a 'breath of fres air' of a game. The game is driven by the 'Evolution' theory. So basically in this game you start out from the cell phase of life and you progress to different and more complex life forms as the game progresses. Graphics wise, its pretty good but it's really the gameplay that wins my approval. Anyway if you're into Sims™ , like I am, then this is definitely a game to pick up. At the moment during my free time this is the game I'm playing, Oh yeah you can also compete with people online, imagine that, a whole universe of online players!!!.

Ahhhhh..this is definitely a sweet break away from the usual post I provide for y'all..heheh..in this post I'm revealing what we at Qippy.com love to gobble down during our hunger bingeing ;) .Well on top of the list has definitely got to be the all time favourite of mine, ohhh the 'Snickers' bar. It's simply excellent, I mean the outer shell is good as it is, but once you sink your teeth in deeper to the crust of this little flavorful beast then you'll be hooked, it goes from sweet chocolate-ty taste to shear crunchy and smooth caramel all at once!! not forgetting the Nougat..mmmmmm...

Anyway next on the list is Kinder Bueno, man you've got to try this chocolate, it so smooth. If you're into Nutella I assure you that you would simply fall in love with Kinder Bueno. Another favourite of mine is a slightly rarer chocolate, its the Cadbury's Flake. I used to buy these back in student days in London to bring back home every summer holidays, Thank God for globalization now you can get em here, although the version here is from Aussie. I have to admit I do find the Cadbury's Flake from UK slightly tastier as its not as sweet as it's Aussie version, and also the UK version has got a slightly bitter and crunchier taste to it. Oh well its still good. One that you also must try out is Maltesers, make sure its the Aussie version if you buy it here, cos I've tried the Indonesian version and its really not as nice,but if you have the choice between UK or Aussie of this, try opting for the UK version, call me bias but there's just something nice about UK 'chocchies' which I can't put my finger on, it's just nicer I guess and not as sweet tasting, so you can really appreciate the intense chocolate-ty flavors in your mouth. Anyway thats enough chocolate diaries for now, I'm gonna enjoy my Magnum ice-cream now...

It's been such a long weekend.I've had 2 shoots on Saturday and finally this a few hours ago.It was a great shoot in my opinion.Lots of color and structure to play with and Fiza & Azni are so relaxed in front of the camera that it just made things fall into place.Anyway enough said I need to sleep :) Here's my post for tonight.

It was a pretty hot day yesterday,and we were on our way to shoot our first birthday shoot for this year.It was definitely interesting to shoot something apart from weddings after a while. I was definitely keen to pump up the saturation big time. Most of the time I had to depend on available light from the windows in the house, although they were only but a few blast from my ever reliable flash gun I really tried not to use it that much because I had to conserve as much batteries for a wedding shoot the same night. Anyway here's just a sample of what I've shot that day..

It was simply pouring and it proved to be rather challenging because my lens AF was acting up.Anyway if you do face such a scenario like that the easiest remedy to overcome the random locks in yer AF is a good nights stay of your camera and lenses in the drybox.It almost works like a charm (so to speak) all the time for me.Anyway here are some of the shots I've managed to post here.

Hi been a while since I blogged anything. Anyway was real busy over the weekend shooting a wedding for a couple which took place on Saturday & Sunday.After the shoot I was really drained out and am still taking some time to rest. Anyway included in this post is just a gist of both events.Hope you like the pics. Anyway the pictures are not chronologically in order . By the way I've noticed the best browser to view my post would be Safari as the colors on Safari is far more vibrant. But I hope you do bare in mind for older post I used Firefox to upload so you may realize certain shots looking overly saturated especially around the red color channel, if you browse using Safari, just to let you guys know. Also for best results try viewing the blog with an LED screen. It's really good on LED's. ;)

Took these pics a while back.Both Franck and Yen Ling are accountants working in Switzerland. I remember the first call I got from Yen Ling. It was late at night (if I remember correctly) and there was a massive delay in the phone line. It was definitely hard to make out the conversation on the phone at first because of the massive lag, but soon I got used to it and we finally managed to talk through her requirements for the coming shoot. She decided to have a wedding reception in Penang at the E&O Hotel. Before the dinner reception we managed to do a 'Walkabout' (heheh the expression reminds me so much of that movie 'Australia' when that kid decides to go for a 'walkabout' with his grand dad King George).Anyway here are a few I've decided to post.

I must say I would have wished we could have done the shoots much later in the day as the sun was scorching and it had caused them to squint so much. But a lesson we all have to learn is that not all scenarios are always ideal with what we'd like,so we should really make the best of it.

Hi guys and girls been a while since I posted anything..I have been rather busy the last weekend. I was in Kuantan over the weekend shooting a Family day event for a large corporation based in KL. Anyway I will try and post some stuff from that shoot once I finish with editing it.In the meantime this is just a random shot from my archives. Hope you like it.

I shot this elderly man in Johor off the coast of Kota Tinggi.He was fishing in the mid afternoon. He managed to catch quite a few fish, which he mentioned he would cook later on that night, perhaps for dinner I presume.

A day in Carcosa..

I can still remember when Zuraifah's mom confirmed with us for her daughters' wedding day shoot, it was Friday and we were in the new uncompleted Royale Chulan Hotel. Never have I seen a hall that large in KL before..it was really massive..the reception for the Akad Nikah (exchanging of vows ceremony) was however held in Carcosa Seri Negara.I have always been a fan of this venue because the shoot achieveable here is always goin to be different from most halls as the setting is entirely colonial. Before this 'do ' I had done many shoots from commercial to weddings here too. But I guess what made this different for me was the fact that for the first time I was shooting a Nikah in Carcosa during the day instead of the night. It was really blazing hot I have to admit, man I just couldn't stop sweating almost throughout the whole shoot.!! For me the shoot really got cracking after the guests had gone home. I decided to do a posed pre /post wedding kinda shoot since I really didn't want to waste this opportunity while I was there. Anyway here's a few I've selected in the post. Just to note the picture of the bride and groom with KLCC and KL Tower in the background isn't a composite. I used fill in flash and fired it with my radiopopper from in front of them.

Bought a few units of these radiopopper's to fire up my flashguns..It was definitely frustrating to say the least to work with my ST-E2 Transmitter from Canon..the minute your camera or flash isn't in the line of sight you'd lose connection with the flash..what made it worst is that when you go outdoors the problem even doubles as there are no surfaces where these infrared beams can bounce off from,arghhhh. All in all the ST-E2 was very much a wishful thinking kinda toy. Anyway that's the past now at last thank God that I have gotten a whole new lease of life for the ST-E2. Instead of it being a white elephant I now proudly crown it with a radio transmitter from radiopopper..cool..anyway I cant wait to use it this Sunday for a wedding I'm shooting in Carcosa..I'm so excited just thinking about it...InsyaAllah..right folks stay tuned..I'm loving it..anyway the little girl is my niece..it's always nice to have these free models laying about in the house hehehe,its just a test shot..

A bug's Life..

When I was really young I was always referred to in the family as 'The Mad Scientist'...That's because I used to love playing with insects and all kinds of things in the backyard..making my concoction of weird and foul smelling perfumes from my dad's Aramis perfumes mixed with other perfumes like Old Spice etc..it was great fun..I've always learned stuff through trial and error...one of my favorite insects has definitely got to be the Dragonfly..It's one of those cool insects..I mean how can it not be cool?? Its eyes alone look like its a Jetfighters' HUD (HEADS UP DISPLAY) helmut!!Oh yeah and of course the way this little insect flies is totally mind-boggling...quick sudden changes of flight trajectories from left to right or even up to down..and If I have observed correctly they can even reverse flight paths at such high speeds, and spontaneously at will too!!..something that's hardly achieved by man and his modern technology even till this day...anyway..here's taking a good look at it...

Water..I thought of posting something philosophical for once..well what can I say..water is really the most abundant natural resource that we have on this planet..even our planets' color is referred to as the Blue Planet..even in the Quran water is mentioned various times by Allah (God)..when we get thirsty we need water,when we are dirty we need to clean ourselves with water..What is Water? Well scientifically speaking water consists of 3 atoms, 2 Hydrogen atoms bonded to a single atom of Oxygen..strange this creation...its clear,tasteless and yet we take it so much for granted..I decided to post such a post just for all of us ,myself included, to appreciate this gift we call 'Water'. In this short post I wanted to capture the beauty of water..I used high speed photography to capture the tiny details that we miss everytime water drops..I hope after this post we all can remember how beautiful water really is...and that everytime water drops you can remember the great detail and shapes involved as it trickles down...also that we must do our best to protect and save it from misuse..

I simply love this shot..the drops look like tiny gems dripping down ..

I took this shot for Protons annual report...It was quite a struggle just to get everybody on time to the exact location of the shoot as there were several latecomers that we had to wait for etc..but eventually I managed to pull off the shoot..anyway for legal reasons I wasn't able to post the main page picture before the annual report was printed, thankfully now that isn't a problem since the book is officially out..anyway here's the cover shot..It was intentionally highlighted only on Alex Yoong face (ex F1 Driver)..btw this is my version of how I would have wanted the shot,alas proton chose to use the picture that had all faces well lit instead..oh well..

I met Syazana & Anis a while back..it was a typical 'meet the customer' kinda meeting..they were looking for a photographer and they said they really liked my work..I was definitely so happy to meet people who appreciated my work..anyway that's history now..this wedding was definitely not like the typical weddings I'm used to having to shoot..'at last!' I was saying in my head an outdoor wedding!!..you see most Malaysians' especially from the 'Malay' (no offence intended) community tend to like having their weddings done in some grand hotel..by all means ain't nothing wrong with that..but the only setback is that it's definitely goin to look the same from one wedding to the next..hence my extreme joy to have gotten such an adventurous couple to shoot (and believe me by Malay standards a garden wedding is definetely adventurous....;) hehe )..Anyway the shoot started like any other typical shoot..as the day unfolded it truly started to spice the photography too...need I say more..just enjoy the pics..and if you like what you see pls leave me a comment..oh yeah and please be more adventurous guys,try to plan yer weddings outside or someplace besides a hotel if you can.. ..cheers

Solar Eclipse caught in the act...

I was really excited when I heard that yesterday we are expecting a partial solar eclipse in this region.I managed to catch this on the way out,fortunately my car was tinted and it really acted as a filter. Because believe me its really hard to see the eclipse even when the moon was half blocking the sun..Its only visible if clouds cover it slightly then only it will be visible to the unaided eye..anyway hope you like this lucky shot..

I've always had a deep fascination with structures as well as colours..it comes to no surprise why I ended taking Product Design as a degree back in Uni days,I guess..anyway here's a few experimental shots I took today and the day before...

My parents collection of perfumes never ceases to amaze me!..anyway I was told by my dad that our forefathers used to do this business of scented woods as a means to earn a descent living.

These buildings were shot around the KL Sentral area..I just love the structure of the building and how it becomes so blue as the sun begins to set..amazing ...

Why I became a Photographer?

Hmmmm...well the simple truth is I just love looking at pictures..ever since I can remember I have always enjoyed browsing through books and magazines..every instance I saw an interesting image it would leave a mark in my subconscious mind..I would then tend to try and photograph or emulate the pic that I saw..Anyway I must say I've never found a job more humbling than what I'm currently doing now..I don't know what it is with people at times, the minute they see someone having a camera around their necks they think they can boss you around..I must say in this line I have had my fair share of bullying from individuals..but nevertheless it has never deterred me from this field..Its nice to be behind the camera because you get to see all kinds of people and all kinds of behavior people display..this job allows me to truly see who is truly sincere and who is not..as a camera man you really are the silent witness that sees all that is happening..my advice is one should always treat each other with respect no matter what he or she carries around his neck, because you never know when you would need his or her help next...just a thought I'd like to share.... :)

Hi, been busy selling Hotdogs in my Aunt's garage sale last weekend..me and my cousins joined forces to do a garage sale..there were cloths,book,electronics,handbags etc on sale there...I was quite amused at how popular my hotdogs were selling amongst the kids especially hehehe,that weekend I was even given a new name by the kids...aptly I was no longer known as Uncle Naqib but Uncle Hotdog or Hotdog man was the new names bestowed on me...heheh..I humbly accepted this new responsibility and kept in my mind these versus 'with great power comes great responsibility' (ring a bell folks?heheh)...all right then..thats my post for the moment...

Tanjung Rhu what a beautiful haven...

Just got back today in the afternoon from Langkawi...me and my wife were there to help our client shoot their Resort..the last time I was in Langkawi was like a good decade or more..anyway Tanjung Rhu is such a nice place tucked deep in the mangrove area of the island...the whole area occupied by the establishment consist of a total of 1000 plus acres..I would highly recommend to anybody who wants to get away from it all to take a trip to Langkawi and stay at The Tanjung Rhu..food was simply excellent...and service was definitely worth the 5 stars it deserves..anyway we were there for 2 days and the weather was rather bad..nevertheless I took advantage of whatever weather I had as I didn't want to disappoint my clients..the night before we left the island, Langkawi apparently was hit by a hurricane...we got to see the aftermath that the hurricane left behind minutes after it struck certain spots of the island..infact on that same rainy day we all took a cruise ship and ended up having to head back the harbour as the waves and the sea in general was way too violent...in one incident, while were on board, the ship was struck by a large wave that literally made the cruise ship sway left to right at almost 35 degrees or so...anyway glad I'm back in KL now..Alhamdulillah...anyway it wa a great short trip...hope you enjoy just a gist of what I managed to capture during my time there..

Some lucky sunny spells did occur...

Last weekend I had to shoot two engagements all in a day..it was quite daunting come to think of it now...I mean like, with so little margin of error in terms of timing..Thankfully all is history now...Alhamdulillah the event went smoothly without a glitch...Liana and Ashraf's engagement was the second engagement I had to shoot that day..hope you like just a few of the selection of shots I've selected to post in this posting..the theme that night was all things 'Oceanic'...

Hi folks..man oh man...been ages since I ever wrote anything at all in my Blog...hehe..to be honest I've been so busy with Raya celebrations and finishing up the tons of work..Ramadhan proved to be very spiritual this year..It has to be said also that this year is the first Raya that we as a family have no grandmothers to celebrate with, as both of them passed away the same year..Alot has happened during the absence of me typing in this space..Anyway nevertheless InsyaAllah I plan to fill the blog once again with more stuff as there are many interesting projects taking place before the year ends InsyaAllah...All right then stay tuned...

Hi guys..its been a while since I've posted anything on my blog..A lot has happened in these past 2 weeks of not blogging..My dearest Grandmother passed away last Monday..it was really a long week to say the least..she was definitely a typical example of the sort of grandmother anybody wishes to have as their own..everybody who met her never failed to call her 'Tok'..that's how most people felt being around her, she made anybody feel welcome in our family..Anyway may Allah bless your soul with maghfirah and much peace InsyaAllah,Al-Fatihah..
I would also like to take the opportunity today to wish all my muslim readers Ramadhan Mubarak, its a month to get closer to Allah SWT and seek His Forgiveness and His Mercy...I will be posting InsyaAllah some pics soon..so hang in there...

How to shoot effective candids?

I've been posed such questions before by several people...my simple answer is don't forget to compose your shots properly before you decide to shoot an effective image...what do i mean?Well what I'm trying to say is that you must make sure that you always capture the essence of the story you are trying to tell ..ie if you are shooting a coal minor's portrait make sure you try as best you can to include elements or cues that may give clues to what he does for a living..it wouldn't make much sense just shooting real tightly on the subject without taking advantage of elements that make his story unique...alright then thats just roughtly my two cents...that been said I hope you get the picture....happy snapping..

Natessa & Harris' reception in Martrade...

I was at Martrade in Jalan Duta last weekend to shoot Natesssa and Harris' wedding..it was the second ocassion I shot for this couple..the first one, being the Nikah which took place last week.Martrade was such a big venue that I literally got lost just looking for the bridal suite..heheh..anyway I had lots of fun shooting the couple and their family as everybody in the family was so 'sporting'..anyway enjoy the pics..and to the couple..may you both have a wonderful life together...

I remember being asked many times before by many people how long I have done Photography..heheh..well my answer is really quite simple..I tend to say almost all my life!!..because when I was around 12 or so I held my dads first AF camera..back then it was the EOS650..the lens we had back then was the EF 35-70..I remember I was so amazed by this new 'toy' my dad had bought..it never failed to amaze me how by pressing the shutter button halfway it would automatically focus on a subject..I was hooked eversince..for a period after that I stopped playing around with the camera as computer games (Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom,Police Quest,Kings Quest etc) grabbed my attention (those CGA,EGA days..and Adlib and Soundblaster 1.0 Soundcard days)..nevertheless the camera had always an ambient presence even when I wasn't actively shooting..

I started again to pick the camera more seriously when my mum bought me my first serious camera the EOS 1n during my 'A' Levels..wooo..back then this was like 'The' camera..before the F5 of course :P...it had all the cool custom functions that one could dream of..my fav custom function has got to be the mirror up custom function..I used it alot to reduce vibration that may occur during long exposures..it was a great camera..I remember shooting so many slide films back then..just looking through the slides to see the images gave me such a thrill..it was so rewarding whenever you got a well exposed slide..the satisfaction was really something else..I mean like with todays digital camera technology it just makes me appreciate having digital even more as I came from a place and time where we had to wait sometimes several days just to see the results!!I guess on the positive side film camera's thought me to be patient and to plan my shots alot more, as I knew they cost alot to develop and also there's no telling whats really gonna come out..or even if anything comes out for that matter!!

During 'A' Levels in UK,I remember most of my friends taking up Duke of Edinburgh for their extra curricular activities after school..fortunately back then I had decided not to take that activity instead I took the Photography Club after classes..It was fun because I had first hand training on how to wash my own film..back then when Inkjet printers didn't really print anything but documents, it was a novelty to see your images appearing before your very eyes in the darkroom..speaking of which I soon got caught for sneaking out of the dorm house one winter night just to develop some of my prints..heheh..oh well, those were the days...

That all been said I guess my past foundation in photography helped me much as a training ground for my current career.. Am I frustrated with the digital era you may ask? My simple answer is, No way!!...I so embrace it..its made life so much easier but it has also made me appreciate my humble beginnings in the film days..but honestly I wouldn't have it anyway else I guess,I'm just glad I learnt photography from the film days as its so sentimental and nice to look back at my tons and tons of slides up till today and know you have a piece of history in your hand,..beats holding a JPG in your hand..Anyway happy snapping guys...

Finally Proton Annual Report is out!!

After spending many days shooting on location at the Shah Alam Centre of Excellence to shoot for the Annual report last July...its finally here..the annual Report for 2008 is finally out...I'm very happy they chose a human theme for this years report..as that really suited my shooting style..and here's two pics of the report..the front cover was great to shoot..I had to organise some 60 people or so for the shoot,they included the likes of Datuk Sheikh Mudzaffar the first Malaysian in Space..

Natessa met me sometime six months ago...she decided to take us on for her wedding ceremony..whats interesting about this wedding is that its our first wedding where we shoot a bride wearing her own mother's wedding dress!!..and believe me it didn't look a day old..the dress was immaculate!!to say the least..Natessa is working as a fashion designer running her own boutique from home..anyway these are some of the shots I managed to capture that night..

Amir Fazly & Ninie in the Paddy fields of Kedah Darul Aman

It was a scorching day today in Kedah..I arrived in Kedah together with my wife early in the morning hours...we took the earliest flight Air Asia had to offer us...had to wake up around 5 am -ish..heheh..anyway Amir picked us up from the Airport and we had breakfast in this lovely quaint little joint named Zam Zam ...the Nasi Lemak was to 'die for' as Amir tells me...Indeed I had a plate of it and it was simply marvelous...hmmm..but then again it was a blend of Nasi Lemak and Nasi Kandar all in one?!..hehe..Anyway as soon as breakfast was over we took a short rest at the Homestay Guest House..Later that afternoon the event began to unfold..I decided to accompany with this post stuff I shot later on since I had posted loads of Amirs' reception pics the last time..I thought it would be fab to share with you the shoot after the ceremony..I think Alhamdulilah it was the best shoot I've done so far..enjoy them..

Hi just got back from Penang after a wonderful and eventful weekend..so many things happened during that short span of time..I must say I was definitely taken back by the prices of things in Penang...boy oh boy is Penang expensive..especially its taxi's..over that weekend alone of shooting I spent about RM200 pluss just on transportation...anyway to cut the story short..here's a handful of pics I shot over the weekend..Amir's an accountant in the UK and Nini's a doctor in the UK too..Amir engaged me to shoot his wedding sometime a year ago because I had also done his friends weddings previously..He also tells me he's a keen amateur photographer...Its always nice to hear that from customers at times..because at least you know they like your work because they love the art of photography too...It makes me try even harder to do a good job...btw they were both a joy to shoot because they both were bubbly people and most of the posses came naturally for them ...anyway enjoy the shots..

James Nachtwey in Malaysia 2003..

I was invited quite a while back in 2003,to attend a talk given by world renown Photographer James Nachtwey (http://www.jamesnachtwey.com)..the event was sponsored by Canon Marketing Malaysia..Back then I was still working in the Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia as the chief Photographer there..It was my first time attending any kinda of talk of this nature and I must say I was definitely excited to listen to the talk as it was definitely a dream of mine since ever being interested in photography to truly meet a renown photographer whose works have appeared on various cover shots of famous magazines like National Geographic,Times etc...during the talk James showed us a documentary on his Photography and challenges he faces just to capture an image..In the video there was one particular scene in Palestine where his Video Cameraman gets shot and finally succumbs to the wounds received...that really moved me..I knew then when I saw that video that this definitely is where I would draw the line where my Photography career is concerned..its not all rosy and beautiful in the real world of Photojournalism...nevertheless going to that talk definitely inspired me to better my work and shooting techniques...I was very fortunate to have also have my work selected amongst photographers who had submitted their work that afternoon for James to comment on..this is roughly what I remembered him saying...

"..this young man manages to take each subject that is in front of him look interesting!,

Malaysia's Badminton team Prepares for the Olympics 08

Been a while since I posted anything ..I've been very busy with weddings and Protons' Annual Report Shoot..Yesterday I had the privilege to shoot the Malaysian Badminton team sponsored by Proton during practice to prepare themselves for the games..I was sweetly surprised to see familiar faces that rang a bell from my childhood era...The Thomas cup star Misbun Siddiq and also Olympic Gold Yap Kim Hock were there..They all displayed a great level of agility and alertness during pratice..it was particularly fun watching them doing the 'Jumping Smash'...it looked almost as if they were weightless and gravity somehow forgot them..anyway I wish them all the best..and hope they make Malaysia proud...Go Malaysia!!

To Pose or not to Pose?

Its such an interesting question for me to 'pose'..the honest truth is as a Professional Photographer I started out shooting people in their natural poses ie I don't instruct my subjects to pose,instead I find angles that reflects the story behind the picture..Hmm but ever since being involved in this wedding industry I am more and more inclined to have to shoot my subject matter an instruct them at times to do posses...Nevertheless I'm still shooting 80-90% wedding stuff without instructing my clients how to pose...Why?Because I feel if I were to always have them pose in a certain manner all the time I would lose the energy and spontaneity of the shot..and I would ultimately be the ruin of my own style of shooting...every shot would ultimately look the same from the next bride to the other..instead I try to put my focus more on capturing the moments because moments are fleeting and every moment is unique thus making every wedding moment different from the other..nevertheless that being said there are definitely in every wedding shoot, shots which will have to remain generic that I aptly call the 'standard' shots (ie boring heheh)...anyway happy shooting...go grab those moments

Took these shots a while ago..Yen Ling called me out of the blue from New York one Sunday morning to find out more about wedding photography..we met up in KL a few months prior the ceremony...and she decided to take me on to shoot her wedding in Penang Island..here's a few shots I've selected from the occassion.

The reception was held in Le Meridien Kuala Lumpur..the bride wore a dress designed by Syaiful Baharim..it was a very beautiful venue to shoot in, and the crowd was small and intimate which made shooting quite interesting..this shoot gave me a good opportunity to make full use of reflections,especially during the tea ceremomy room..

What Kinda Photographer Am I?

Well thats a good question I pose to my own self at times..the truth is I am a 'Photographer'..purely and plainly that..I record and document whatever thats in front of me..I dont categories myself specifically and exclusively as a 'Wedding Photographer'..I feel that would be far to limiting on myself in terms of things I can document..but nevertheless wedding photography is definitely the main core business that we are involved in capturing..I guess why I like to be just known as a Professional Photographer instead of specifically a Professional Wedding Photographer is simply because I love the art of photography so much so that I usually have my camera slung around me most of the time (less so now, after my horrible backache,hehehe)and I capture almost anything that I may see interesting or worthy of being captured..theres far too many subjects around us and theres also so many things to see that relate to our daily lives which go fleeting in this vast 'present' that we call 'Life'..to capture only one subject and not reflect on the other things around us would most definitely be neglecting our role as a 'recording artist'...what we as photographers see at the end of the day are things that not everyone else sees and knowing this fact we have a great role in documenting events and incidences that go either unnoticed or simply down right inaccessible to the masses..we are the eyes to the world..so the story should convey truth in it..but does that mean Photoshoping is bad?No..I think if it helps enhance or more clearly illustrate the beauty we capture then by all means its commendable..its only bad when you use it to twist the story of a picture..ie putting something that wasn't there or manipulating something in the image so that people begin to believe theres some truth in your hoaxed picture...at the end of the day I enjoy photography too much that I even shoot most of the time for the sheer fun of practicing and getting new angles and views..and thats definitely why I find it hard to be labeled as a 'Professional Wedding Photographer' ...that been said I admire the 'Professional Wedding Photographer's' out there, because they have such an acute knowledge of their subject and they are able to see all these fleeting moments that go unnoticed by the common eye and they do it all in the space of that event..amazing indeed..well done to all Professional Wedding Photographers out there..you are a very talented bunch..

Farah MK's Engagement..to Azmil

This is the engagement pictures to Farah..more known amongst her friends as Fara MK...it was a very beautiful occasion...the engagement took place in their sprawling mansion above the hills of Damansara Perdana...One thing I remembered so well about the ceremony were its flower arrangements..it was just amazing to say the least!!!...gardens and gardens of flowers were used throughout the venue...all in all it was a night to remember..

Azad & Tina's Wedding..

Azad and Tina are such a lovely couple to shoot..they both look good in pictures...Azad is a friend of mine through my wife...but Azad's dad and my dad go way back during the 80's or 70's when my dad was still in the banking sector..anyway history aside the wedding was held in Shangri-La KL...it was a very grand do and to be honest it was my first real big gig..heheh..oh well we all start somewhere..anyway enjoy the pics....

Sabah...A wonderful Holiday..

Hehehe...does this picture look familiar..well if you havent already guessed where you might have seen it then try scrolling my blog all the way up to the title...thats right its the picture that I've used as my blog's title bar...Anyway I shot this a while ago when I was on holiday in the beautiful Malaysian state of Sabah...we went island hoping and this was the first island we landed our anchors...the name of the island is Manukan (correct me if I'm wrong,things sound alike there)...I was so amazed by the wealth of wildlife here on this island...in fact the shot of these school of fish was taken right on the jetty as we anchored!!...we didn't even have to go far out to the sea at all just to see the sea teaming with life...and what amazed me even more was the sheer colours that were present in the water...yellow,greens,blues...you name it,almost every colour present in the rainbow was displayed on the belly of these fishes...

Heres a picture of the jetty...see told ya so..it ain't far out from shore...cool aye..

While we were there we stayed in Sutera Harbour Magellan...I must say I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to go to Sabah..this is the view of the boat harbour thats situated just beside the Hotel...

Haven't you always loved those small miniature achitectural models you see in large buildings or malls etc...how they really get down to modeling every nitty gritty detail...and you some what feel compelled to feel how its like to be tiny or how it feels like to be huge for that matter...well these images I shot was inspired by these feelings I mentioned above..hope you like them

Horses..

I took these shots quite a while back for a ranch based in the Kuang,Sungai Buloh location..The owners wanted to catalogue and document the horses in the ranch and so they engaged me to take the shoot..It was very fun working on the project, because to be really honest, before that project I never was privileged to be near horses..I mean its not like everyday you get to see one that up close and personal anyway...anyway the project eventually materialized further to finally become a souvenir Hardcover Coffee table book which the Ranch owners gave out to their special guest.I learnt much about horse behavior too while I was on the project..each horse was different and displayed its unique individual characters...there were some that were lazy and some that were cheeky,some were down right stallions and couldn't be with any other horses and had to be alone as they were far too aggressive..body type also varied drastically too,there were the race horses with their muscular slender build and there were the work horses with their tall physique and robust bodies..all design for the work they were intended..Amazing!!..It was a great project and I had much fun working with the horses..

Alex Yoong..The Former Formula One Driver..

Took this shot today of Alex in the Proton Centre of Excellence in Shah Alam..I am currently in the midst of shooting for Protons' Annual Report..Alex is a very easy going guy and pleasant..we have known each other for quite some time, ever since my student days in London...He is currently still racing off and on..I once asked him how's it like driving a Formula One car..to my surprise he said that its actually quite easy, its like driving a car except for the fact that its really fast!!!He told me its even got power steering!!..(if I remember correctly)..I wish all the best to him in his racing career, he deserves it...

As a child I used to be so fascinated with all those Britannica encyclopedia volumes we had..I would always go through them over and over again and I was always fascinated with the volumes that were on the subject of weather,especially the tornadoes,lighting and other natural phonemenons..I guess when I was going through those books it gave me glimpses of things and places I would otherwise never be able to come face to face with (hope not anyway where tornadoes are concerned,gulp.)...I guess those were the days before the computer became a household product..back in my day an encyclopedia was pretty much your Virtual Reality ride..it got you seeing places far off and it also made you see the wonders of God's creation...so this shot is definitely inspired from all those years gone by ...I took this shot one night by my balcony and the rain carried on till the early hours of the morning..I couldn't help but grab my tripod and cable release as I knew its my chance to get that encyclopedia's cliché lightning shot..

Our Holiday in Perth..Australia

Me and I wife went to Perth about two years back..we both simply love the balance of urban and natural elements this city has to offer..definitely a far cry from the bustling jams of Kuala Lumpur..another wonderful thing we find about this city is its short flight hours and also the fact that it shares the same timezone as KL..Good thing Air Asia has begun to offer budget flights to Perth now..hehehe..now I sound like an Air Asia Salesman...Enjoy the pics..by the way this Picture of the tress is shot in Kings Park..it was chosen to represent an Australian Online Road Map for Kings Park location

What goes through my mind everytime I take a shot?

Well you may be wondering what usually goes through my mind every time before I take a shot?Hmmm..I guess for me my drive in photography has definitely got to be the inspirational shots I used to flip through in the National Geographic Magazines that my parents subscribed to as a child.I am always pushing the envelop in terms of exposing my images using natural light,I would say some National Geographic Photographers inspired me that way..I guess how I see it; pictures should, when possible, be captured in its original light because thats how we remember seeing the object in front of us in the first place..That being said I'm not against flash photography etc..If the need of the photograph requires one to use other means of illumination, that by all means is all and well..a picture is at the end of the day a story told with light..well thats what I think anyway..One of the most inspiring photographers I would love to emulate when I shoot is James Natchwey...and of course Joe McNally...excellent composition styles in the both of them...

Took this wedding a while back...Alia and Alex met and decided to tie the knot 2 days before their graduation (if I remeber correctly,heheh) ..Anyway Alex is originally from Ukraine but was brought and bred in United States...I was approached to shoot their wedding from the sister whom found my work online...and the rest is history as they say..

The Wedding of Izrin & Mikhail (Marcus)

In the morning the Nikah took place in the Masjid AlBukhary...later on that evening the event unfolded in KLGCC..

I shot this during the weekend..It was a wonderful wedding indeed.The theme of the wedding was a Moroccan one, and so there were much carving motifs around..This particular shot is the bridal bouquet..A very unusual and unique use of orchids,alas in this case it simply fits marvelously and it creates a very romantic touch to the somewhat 'old' Casablancan theme..

In this shot I managed to capture the expressions of the bridesmaids as they help out to 'steam' the brides gown for the night.

This was amongst the gifts that were exchanged during the event itself.

I was very fortunate to have to shoot the family portrait of Sheikh Afeefudin this afternoon..He is a Muslim cleric from Iraq,Baghdad..He currently resides in Kuala Lumpur,Malaysia...He has classes weekly that teaches true Islamic practices..he is also the great grandson of the Great Saint in Islam Sheikh Abdul Qadir Al-Gaylani of Baghdad..On the tecnical side of the images,most of them were captured using my 50 1.2L lens with bounced flash...just incase if anyone wonders..
